for realz?

So case worker II came this afternoon.

She wanted to go over all of our criteria.

The list started and ended with: you are looking for adoptive placement.

hmm. aannnndddd? (I said with more of a look than with my fabulous (haha) verbal skills)

Caseworker II went on to say that she was kind of wondering about that because we really would open our chances of getting an infant if we were foster to adopt.

BLINK.

"yes..." I say "we ARE SUPPOSED to be listed as foster to adopt.. just like the conversations we have had, just like the emails that I have sent all stated...." and again I went over what we are open to.

OH! she says....

Okay... well... we have these placements all the time!

ohmyf-inggodareyouf-ingkiddingmewiththis???????

Let me sum up the rest of the meeting:

I kept my cool
I communicated very clearly
I was kind
She listened and wrote things down
I gave her the names of our friends who have had a case that we are very open to mimicking
I explained to still keep us in the safeh@ven list.

I then tested all of our smoke alarms for her... and showed her where the fire extinguisher is.

She left by saying "okay! see you next month - or far before that with a placement!"

I really think we are on the same page now.

I really think this last three months have sucked ass now knowing that we have been on the wrong damn list.

That sucks. At least it's fixed now, but really? They managed to overlook that? Wow.

BTW, while on the Oprah trip, I met a gay man from Milwaukee who wants to raise a child with his partner. I don't have his contact info right now, but if I get in touch with him again (through various Oprah trip groups on Facebook), can I give him your contact info? He doesn't seem to know where to start. He was asking me for advice (shyly through his sister), but I didn't know much other than the observation that adoption seems easier than surrogacy to me.

It's going to happen soon, I'm sure it is now! I'm sorry it has taken so long but now you're on the right road.

You were on the wrong list! UGHHHHHH!! The head doesn't know what the ass is doing , I guess.

I had to wait 5 months to adopt my first 2 dogs...and I know it's not really a comparison, but I was going crazy that whole time. I can't imagine what you must be feeling.

Goodness gracious!!!!! That's kind of a big thing to miss, over and over!!!

I'm glad you're on all the correct lists now.

Back reading along after an absence for some performances. Hopefully I can cyber-sing a lullaby to a little one in your house sooner rather than later.

That really sucks! At lease it means something should happen now?
Good luck!

It's like constantly being the next in line at the bank and just when it's your turn, the teller goes to lunch, 50 times.
Sorry that this is happening to you. It just means that those kids, in the past several months, weren't meant for you. Plus, they were probably ugly anyway.
Your Friend, m.

LOL mark! yep...probably ugly. :)

SO frustrating! Did I tell you how we were told at the end of our home study "you should consider fostering instead of adopting, because you'll be waiting up to 2 years". Thank God we didn't listen, since 4 months later we fond Carlos! But not without me being on top of everything at all times and "pushing the envelope".

Hang in there! XOXO

I'm confused. What list were you on?

I am having trouble getting the post on the trip finished (including narrowing down the 500 or so pictures I took), but yeah we went to Australia with Oprah. :)
